Cora's (Kanata)

Sorry for the hiatus people, but for those who know me, I had a very good excuse.

Today, I tackled the famous Cora's chain. I have been to this place a few times and have an opinion not shared by most: get that fruit off my plate! It's taking up valuable meat space! Now I know, people like their fruit. If you're one of these people, look away.

We arrived around 10am and it was fairly busy for a Wednesday. We got seated (right next to the bathroom, but never mind) and waited for our waitress. And waited. She finally arrived to take our drink order. I said "2 coffees please, and I think we're ready to order as well". We were ready to order because we had a long time to browse the extensive, fruit-laden menu. I was immediately told "I'm sorry, I can only take your drink order because that table over there needs to order". Really? So, she left and returned a few minutes later with our coffee ($1.25 each, by the way) and informed us that she was ready to take our order. Wonderful.

I ordered the above meal, but asked that the fruit remain on the tree and could she add a couple of extra sausages instead, as the meal only came with one. She then informed me "No, they will not do that. Perhaps your wife can eat your fruit". So, I asked for a side of sausages and a side plate to unload my oranges onto. I may have given her the stink eye. Or possibly the hairy eyeball. Or the crook-eye.

The meal itself was good, especially with the side of light rye toast. Eggs were cooked well; ham, bacon and sausage were satisfactory. The home fries were another story. Anemic wedges of under-cooked, under-browned disappointment. They were all that remained uneaten. Except, of course, the fruit. All in all a decent brekkie, but the $36 bill that came seemed excessive.

So my overall review is:

6.5 sausages out of 10
